UK Ministry of Defence Selects BMT to Assess the Performance of its Maritime Training Systems

31-Jul-2008

BMT Reliability Consultants Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been awarded a five-year contract to provide technical support to the UK Ministry of Defence Maritime Training Systems (MTS) team. This contract enables MTS to understand the output and performance metrics of a wide range of Maritime Training and Simulation systems located at sites across the UK to assist in the delivery of the trained-man to FLEET.

The contract extends a long-standing partnership: BMT has supported MTS since 1993, providing insight into the usage and performance of training and simulation systems; levels of utilisation and system availability being achieved; and levels of training throughput being delivered.

Continuous feedback on the utilisation, as well as the Availability, Reliability and Maintainability of the maritime trainers for which MTS is responsible is provided by BMT Reliability Consultants' proprietary data collection and analysis system, RAMtr@ck.

RAMtr@ck is a web-enabled system that harnesses the benefits of latest technology to deliver a unique service to defence procurement agencies, their customers and suppliers. The system is a user-friendly electronic data repository which enables operators and maintainers to record, in real-time, the usage, failures and repair information associated with their equipment.

The ease and speed with which RAMtr@ck can provide feedback on the performance of equipment is a particular benefit to MTS. The use of a web-enabled tool enables all stakeholders involved in the procurement, operation and support of the equipment to have constant visibility of equipment performance wherever they may be. By delivering ‘real-time' total visibility of equipment performance, any areas of weakness in the equipment or the delivery system can be quickly identified, enabling corrective action to be taken without delay.

RAMtr@ck also underpins BMT Reliability Consultants' delivery of similar added value services for the Swedish Ministry of Defence to assist it in managing the performance of its training systems for the Leopard II main battle tank and the CV90 armoured vehicle.

Andrew Cooper, Managing Director of BMT Reliability Consultants said: "The award of this contract by Maritime Training Systems is further testament of the unique skills, experience and tools offered by BMT Reliability Consultants. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Maritime Training Systems and helping them to enhance their performance capabilities in the future."
