We support the procuring authority with the writing of procurement specifications covering both the design and development of platforms and systems and equipments, and the requirements for the support, covering traditional approaches through to performance based contracting and Contractor Logistic support, and Private Finance Initiatives. Our approach to producing Invitation To Tender (ITT) documents ensures that industry can be assessed not only against compliance with the requirements, but also on their ability to manage supportability risks and deliver a value for money through-life support solution.  As the product enters service, we can plan and manage independent practical demonstrations of reliability, maintainability and supportability.

Solutions must provide through-life value for money, be affordable and deliver the capability to counter current and future threats. We work with industry teams to develop tailored solutions, which ensure Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) and Supportability are considered effectively and efficiently during the design and development phases. As products are prepared to enter service, we work with clients to develop and put in place the most cost effective support solution based on the Supportability analysis conducted during the design, development and manufacturing phases.

• We have developed and implemented policies and standards in support of the Defence procurement process, including those for an R&M Case, Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) analysis, Logistics and Maintainability assessments, and In-service Reliability Demonstrations. We have also provided key inputs to the ongoing development of the supportability standard DEF STAN 00-600 and its supporting documentation in JSP 886.
